Biography:

After completing his undergraduate degree in Aviation at the University of North Dakota in May of 1997, Shore Aviation’s founder, Byron Severson, began his aviation career in sales and marketing at Raytheon Aircraft. Byron displayed an immediate propensity for sales and customer relations and in 1999 was named Regional Sales Director for Raytheon Aircraft’s Northeast Region. In 2000, Byron’s first full year in the position, he set a territory record for sales of piston aircraft.

Byron enjoyed immense sales success and outstanding customer satisfaction throughout his time selling the Bonanzas, Barons and King Air C90Bs for Raytheon Aircraft. Then, in 2002, Byron accepted the position of Regional Sales Director with Piaggio America. Selling and flying the five million dollar, 395 knot Piaggio P180 Avanti was the perfect complement to his already diverse aviation sales experience.

Through all of his early achievements at both Raytheon and Piaggio, Byron sensed a great need amongst owner-pilots for outstanding, professional assistance in their buying and selling of aircraft. This need sparked a vision in Byron to start an aviation firm that would focus on owner-pilots and provide them with real added value in the areas that they needed.

In order to further develop his vision of starting a customer-centric, aviation sales and consulting firm, Byron undertook a rigorous MBA Management program at Seton Hall University beginning in the fall of 2000. In 2003, Byron completed his MBA and in November of the same year began his vision made real, a company he would call Shore Aviation.

Shore Aviation’s mission to make buying, flying and selling aircraft simple and enjoyable filled an immediate and growing need. In its very first year in business, Shore Aviation sold several turbine and piston aircraft as a broker and managed acquisitions on a number of uniquely different aircraft including the Saratoga, Bonanza, Baron, King Air C90B, and the TBM-700. Adding to its growing list of recognitions, Shore Aviation was named a Cirrus Approved Broker in 2004.

Note: Byron Severson holds a commercial pilot certificate with both multi-engine and instrument ratings along with a tailwheel endorsement. Byron has logged more than 1,500 hours in various piston and turbine aircraft. He holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Studies with honors from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and a M.B.A. in Management from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.
